New Delhi: The Delhi police has arrested nine more kanwariyas involved in vandalising a car in West Delhi exactly a week after the incident took place. The police reportedly conducted all-night raids in order to arrest the goons of the kanwariya vandalism case. The total count of arrests made so far has risen to 11. Two people had already been arrested in the case.

Earlier on Monday, Yogesh (22), who too was involved in the kanwariya case, was arrested. The incident had taken place on August 7 near Moti Nagar Metro station in the middle of a busy road. Rahul Billa, one of the accused caught on camera, was arrested on August 9.

On the basis of information provided by Yogesh, nine more people, including main accused Aman, were arrested in the last 24 hours, said DCP (West) Vijay Kumar. He added that they have arrested 11 men so far.

Yogesh was identified after carefully examining the CCTV footage and the registers of 9 Kanwar camps set up on Najafgarh Road. A resident of JJ Colony in Dwarka, Yogesh was arrested after Billa informed the police that residents of Uttam Nagar were also involved in the case. He was one of the main accused in vandalising the car. The commotion had ensued when a grey car being driven by a woman, who was accompanied by a male friend, hit one of the kanwariyas. This led to an altercation, which turned into a brawl when the woman’s male friend reportedly slapped a kanwariya.

The kanwariyas then went on a rampage. They broke the windshields, windows, headlights of the car and toppled it over. There was a policeman who tried to stop them.

The couple fled the spot out of fear for their lives and denied registering a written complaint.
