In a separate incident, a couple of unidentified men cut open an ATM with a gas cutter and fled away with cash in Maidan Garhi area.

New Delhi: The Delhi police has arrested two members of Mewati gang who were going to commit crime by by hacking the ATM machines in South Delhi. The duo accused were identified as Ikbal and Aabid Hussain, both native of Nuh district in Mewat region of Haryana. DCP (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said, on Saturday, following a tip off regarding some members of Mewati gang are about to come in Delhi to commit cheating by hacking the ATM machines and if raid is conducted ,they could be arrested. The staff laid the trap on MB Road and nabbed the duo, who were in a SUV. Five ATM cards of different banks, `39,500 cheated money, one Hyundai SUV, which was purchased from the cheated amount, has been recovered from their possession, Mr Thakur said.

Meanwhile in a separate incident, a couple of unidentified men cut open the ICICI ATM with a gas cutter and fled away with the cash in South Delhi’s Maidan Garhi area on late Saturday night, the police said, adding that there was not even a single guard at the ICICI ATM kiosk at the time of the incident.

Mr Thakur said a PCR call was received at around 7 AM on Sunday, regarding the incident. Initial probe suggest that more than two persons were involved in the incident. The accused used gas cutter to cut open the machine and fled away with the money.

However, the bank has yet to give the exact amount of the robbed money, he added.

“The bank authorities have been repeatedly told to deploy security guards at the ATM kiosk to tackle any untoward incident but despite that many ATMs are not having enough security arrangements,” DCP Thakur said.
