New Delhi: A couple, popularly known as Bunty-Bubly, was arrested for allegedly committing robbery in several houses of West Delhi. In their modus operandi, the woman used to pose as a beautician and ask her customers to keep their eyes closed for an hour after applying beauty pack on their face, and then decamp with their valuables.
The arrested duo has been identified as Anjali Rajput (18), a resident of Inderpuri, and Sumit (26), a resident of Harinagar. According to the police, Anjali was working as a beautician while Sumit was working as a manager in a private firm. The duo had met recently and became friends. The police said that the main accused, Anjali, used to apply beauty pack on her customers and told them not to open their eyes else the face pack would become ineffective and subsequently harm their skin.
The police added that when the customers were suitably warned, Anjali would decamp with their valuables. The probe reveals that Sumit, who used to take the valuables from Anjali, would further sell it in the market. So far, the infamous Bunty-Babli gang had duped over a dozen people.
The incident came to light when in separate incidents two complainants approached the jurisdictional police and lodged a complaint. After taking up the case, the police learnt that both the victims were cheated in a similar fashion. Upon receiving a tip, the police arrested Anjali, who confessed to have committed the crime.
