Mumbai: The probe into the Indian Premier League betting case has widened as the Thane police is decoding the data found on Sonu Jalan's laptop, which allegedly has details of many high-profile customers. Officials have also sent Jalan's phone for forensic analysis. His phones have voice recordings of calls made to customers, including some who are associated with the film industry.

Jalan also used other electronic gadgets to harass people, which are also being analysed. Police said that a couple of producers, who might be questioned about their alleged links with Jalan, are overseas. The police have not issued any summons to them officially yet.

Jalan would accept bets on the 'bet and take' application using his profile name 'Chikoo'.  He would keep in touch with the punters via phone calls that would be made using the 'line holding machine,' which has also been seized by the police. The machine was being used to connect with several punters at a time with its multiple phone slots and a microphone where he would declare rates for placing bets, police said.

“The phones have been sent to forensic sciences laboratory for data analysis whereas the laptop is being scanned by us at the cyber lab,” said a senior Thane police officer.

The probe found an overseas link between Jalan and another bookie, Surendra Bagri, also known as 'Junior Calcutta,' who is operating from Dubai and is suspected to be affiliated with D-Company operatives. Officials have unravelled a network showing the flow of betting money from India to Pakistan via Sri Lanka, as against Dubai, which was a popular route and but happens to be on the radar of Indian agencies.

Jalan was in touch with one Raees Faooqui, a D gang member and had made several trips to Dubai to meet Farooqui and Bagri.

Bagri was captured in a picture along with Khan and other bookies, including Jalan in Delhi in 2015.

The police have come across some pictures of former Ranji player Robbin Morris and Bagri from Jalan. The picture also has Aman Delhi, JK Delhi, Raman Delhi, Mooka, Chote, Manoj Chias and Amit Delhi, all active bookies, police said.
