Mumbai: On the lines of Nanalal D. Mehta flyover at Matunga, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to beautify space under the Aanik-Wadala flyover.

The civic body will develop a jogging track, landscape and a garden under the flyover at a cost of Rs 2.20 crore.

According to civic officials, the beautification work will be carried out in three phases – the development of space under the Aanik-Wadala flyover, construction of a jogging track along the Trimurti Road and construction of a storm water drain in the Meenatai Thackeray Udyan.

“The beautification works include construction of new pavements, retaining wall, grills and a landscape.

There will also be a seating arrangement along the jogging track. The storm water drain to be laid at the Udyan will be of RCC type,” said a senior civic official.

The BMC had received three bids for the project, from Vikash Enterprises, Bharati Constructions and Ashwini Infradeve-lopments. Of them, Ashwini Infra-developments emerged as the lowest bidder with a quotation of `2.20 crore.

The contract period is 11 months including the monsoon.

The BMC has fixed a defect liability period of 2-5 years for various works like structural, landscape, electrical and paver blocks.

In addition to this, the contractor will also have to maintain the beautification work free of cost for a period of one year, the official said.
