Mumbai: The name of the alliance of the three parties – Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress – will be Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA), revealed a source on Thursday.

Moreover, both parties have decided to invite other smaller parties, including the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Vikas Aghadi and CPI to join in the formation of the government.

The Common Minimum Programme (CMP) has also been finalised, and will be tabled before Sena leaders at Y.B. Chavan Friday. If the Sena agrees to the CMP, there will be talks about the sharing of portfolios, the source added.
Meanwhile, the Congress in Maharashtra will also hold a meeting with its smaller allies on Friday noon in order to take them into confidence.

“All legislators will be taken into confidence. All the processes of extending support to the Shiv Sena are expected to be completed such as taking signatures of the legislators on the letter,” said a Congress leader familiar with the development. After this, a final meeting will be held with the Sena and NCP. Sources said that the state Congress may elect its leader of the legislature party Friday.

A senior Congress leader told The Asian Age, “NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray will meet Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi before formal announcement of government formation.”

He claimed that if everything goes as per plan, the Sena will stake claim to government formation within the next three days.

Sources said that the Sena would get 15 portfolios along with the chief minister’s post. While the NCP would get 15 portfolios and the Congress 12. There would be  a deputy chief minister from the NCP and Congress, each. In the October 21 Maharashtra polls, the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance secured a comfortable majority by winning 105 and 56 seats, respectively, in the 288-member Assembly. The Congress and the NCP, pre-poll allies, won 44 and 54 seats, respectively.
