In one of the major demolition drives in the city, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday demolished two floors of an unauthorised building at Dongri in B ward. The civic body also took action against illegal constructions in Mazgaon and Kamathipura areas in E ward.

According to civic officials, there are three illegal buildings — 35, 37 and 39 — at Nishanpada Cross Lane, Dongri.

The BMC started demolition of building no. 35 amidst tight police bandobast on Friday.

Two floors of the ground plus seven building were demolished on Friday and the remaining floors will be razed in the coming days.

Udaykumar Shiroorkar, assistant commissioner of B ward, said, “The matter was pending in the court, which removed the stay few days, about these buildings. Following this, the drive was undertaken by ward office team.”
