Forget Apple Watch 4! This watch comes with groundbreaking technology

An upcoming smartwatch is expected to come with Apple Watch's two hottest features.

Samsung is rumoured to be launching a new smartwatch dubbed the Galaxy Watch Active 2 and it will come with two features that made the Apple Watch Series 4 as popular as it is — ECG and fall detection. Reports suggest that the upcoming Samsung flagship smartwatch will be capable of noticing atrial fibrillation which is a heart condition that’s pretty common and has the ability to share this information with doctors and other health professionals.

It’s no secret that the Apple Watch was amongst the first in wearables to record ECG, anytime and anywhere. This feature was able to effectively detect AFib and possibly save the lives of a number of Apple Watch users. While Apple paved the way for it to go mainstream; it is no surprise that rivals are now jumping on this bandwagon. According to a report by SamMobile, Samsung will be the next big brand to bring ECG to its lineup of smartwatches starting with the Galaxy Watch Active 2.

The report states, “Our sources reveal that the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will take a page out of the Apple Watch Series 4’s book and feature an ECG app. It will enable users to take an electrocardiogram from their wrist.”

The benefits of this feature are limitless as it gives wearers insight into their heart rhythm instantly and way more conveniently than ever before. With the ECG feature, it can detect an irregular heartbeat which could lead to AFib which is a rather serious heart condition. This abnormality can lead to a range of heart-related complications that includes blood clots, strokes and heart failure that can lead to death.

The report also mentions that the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 can also detect falls; just like the Apple Watch. The report states, “If the device detects a hard fall while it’s on the wrist, it will display an alert on the screen and also vibrate to nudge the user. They can use one-tap options to either contact emergency services or dismiss the alert.”

If the Galaxy Watch Active 2 does not receive a response from the user in a stipulated time, the smartwatch will instantly contact medical services along with alerting the wearer’s emergency contacts.

As of now, there is no word on when the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be launched but rumours claim that it will debut alongside the Galaxy Note 10 on August 7.
