Congress, BRS trying to implement Sharia: Amit Shah

Likening Congress, BRS and AIMIM to the three angles of a triangle, Shah charged that these parties were engaged in appeasement politics

HYDERABAD, BHONGIR: Union home minister Amit Shah hit out at the Congress and the BRS, alleging that they were trying to implement the Sharia law and hoping to revive ‘triple talaq’, which would be a great injustice to Muslim women.

Likening the Congress, BRS and the AIMIM to the three angles of a triangle, Shah charged that these parties were engaged in appeasement politics.

“Can Congress and the BRS go against Asaduddin Owaisi? These people have opposed the Citizenship Amendment Act, Hyderabad Liberation Day and did not allow Sri Rama Navami celebrations in Hyderabad. These three parties are one and same and stand as ABC — A for Asaduddin, B for BRS and C for Congress,” Shah said.

Addressing a public meeting in Bhongir, he said that the Congress was in power for 70 years and never tried to resolve the Ram temple issue. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi resolved the legal disputes, did bhumi puja and constructed a grand Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya, he pointed out.

Referring to AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s comment that the people of Rajasthan and Telangana state were no way concerned with the affairs of Kashmir and abrogation of Article 370, the Union minister asked the people of Bhuvanagiri if they were ready to sacrifice their lives to protect the motherland and Kashmir, they responded almost in unison with a ‘yes’. He said that Modi had made the country proud by removing Article 370 and today the national flag is unfurled in the valley with noticeable pride. The Modi government crushed cross-border terrorism and naxalism has been curbed with an iron hand, he said.

Terming the coming Lok Sabha elections as a fight between ‘vote for jihad’, ‘vote for vikas’, ‘parivar kalyaan’ vs ‘desh kalyaan’, ‘Rahul Gandhi’ vs ‘Narendra Modi’ and Rahul Gandhi’s ‘childish guarantees’ vs Modi’s ‘pucca guarantees’, Shah claimed that the BJP had already crossed the 200-seats mark in the first three phases of the Lok Sabha elections.

Asking Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to listen, Shah said that the BJP in Telangana is winning more than 10 seats, which will help the party cross 400 seats this time. The BJP-led government will remove four per cent reservations to Muslims and restore them to BCs, SCs and STs after the party wins over 10 Lok Sabha seats in the State, he said.

Asking the people to vote for party candidate Boora Narsaiah Goud with a good majority, Shah said that the Congress party is in such a bad state that they struggled to get candidates. The Congress candidate from Bhuvanagiri Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy had forged the signature of his friend Rahul Gandhi and was suspended from the party. As they are not getting any candidate, Kiran Kumar Reddy was given the ticket. This shows the party's desperation for getting right candidates, Shah pointed out.

Charging the Congress of not honouring its poll promises, Shah listed out how the Revanth Reddy government had ditched people by not waiving farm loans; not giving Rs 500 additional bonus on paddy; Rs 5 lakh education loan to college students; establishing an international school at every tehsil and failure to enhance Rythu Bandhu from Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000, among others.

On the other hand, the BJP government had taken up a new textile park at Pachampally with Rs 14,000 crore; the Bhongir-Bhoopalapatnam national highway at a cost of Rs 140 crore; modernisation of railway stations at Jangaon and Bhongir; constructing a modern railway station at Komaravelli; NH between Suryapet and Siddipet apart from bringing a new textile policy that is benefitting eight lakh handloom weavers in the state.

Charging that BRS had looted the state by promising people more water, funds and jobs, Shah said that the Congress came to power seeking ‘one chance’ but had made the state its ATM in corruption.

“Give one chance to BJP by helping us win more than 10 Lok Sabha seats, and we will make Telangana the No. 1 state in the country”, he said.
