Ashwini, Alia’s comic collaboration

Director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari, after helming films like Nil Battey Sannata and Bareilly Ki Barfi, will next be working on a full-on comedy movie with the Raazi actress Alia Bhatt.

While the director is excited about the project, it will be after a long wait that Alia will get to do a comedy film. In an interview last year, Alia had said, “I am really looking out for a script that would give me a chance to do comedy. Something really funny and wacky.”

The director who is pretty elated about the project is looking forward to working with Alia. “It’s happening next year. I am very happy and filled with gratitude for the story that I’ll be doing with Alia. Without a doubt, Alia will light up the screen with her acting prowess, besides being the nicest human. It will be an added perk,” says Ashwini about the project.

As far as Alia is concerned, in her career of six years, this would be Alia’s fourth film with a female director after Dear Zindagi (Gauri Shinde), Raazi (Meghna Gulzar) and Gully Boy (Zoya Akhtar).

Come to think of it, Alia started her career as a child artist with Tanuja Chandra in Sungharsh.
