Saif Ali Khan called out

The polarization over the Citizenship Amendment Act has just deepened and  seeped into the secular Hindi film industry with the brilliant actor Bashir Ali (seen  recently in the web series Inside Edge) calling out Saif Ali Khan for not taking a stand on the issue.

Saif and Bashir were co-stars in the Netflix series Sacred Games where they played two cops hunting down a dangerous criminal. When Saif was recently asked his opinion on the CAA he feigned ignorance pleading he’s yet to understand the issue.

Bashir tweeted in response, “Talk to  Majid, Sartaj…”

Majid and Sartaj were the names of the  characters played by Bashir and Saif, respectively.

Significantly, Saif has taken off for his annual Christmas-New Year holiday with  his wife Kareena and son Taimur, hopeful that the issue would die down once he’s back.

But the issue is unlikely to die down anywhere in the near future. With fellow co-stars calling out the fence-sitters, the divisive forces seem to have struck the entertainment industry which was, so far, immune from any divide along religious line.
