Dodging homework
The funniest memory that I can recall about my school days has to be one incident that involved unfinished homework for numerous days. I didn’t do any of my homework for days and days at a stretch ,and kept stalling my teacher that I was extremely unwell and was under heavy medication. Adding to the fun quotient was the fact that my dear teacher actually believed in all that I kept on saying.

Stealing!
The naughtiest thing that I had ever done during my school days was stealing. No, no. Don’t get me wrong. I meant…stealing tiffin boxes. One of my classmates used to bring these mouth-watering delicacies to school. Lured by all the taste and magic of her ghar ka khaana, one day I decided to eat it up without her knowledge before lunch.

Jump off the wall
Boarding schools are a breeding ground for pranks.  I used to jump off the wall of my school compound to go to cinema halls to watch movies. That started to happen quite frequently when my friends and I got to know that girls from other schools were going to come for particular shows. But baad main jam kar pitai hoti thi.

Graffiti on the wall
I  was in a boarding school and we were a gang of notorious guys who liked to call ourselves ‘wolves’. It was our last year in school and we thought that we should leave our memories imprinted in the school forever by creating some graffiti in the assembly hall. We broke into the school building by fooling the guard through the bathroom ventilators on a weekend to put our plan into action. Next day our school woke up to its assembly hall completely covered with graffiti! We literally painted all our inspiration out there — from musical notes to guitars, film stars and of course the wolves! What happened next has been my biggest nightmare to date but a memory we still remember, cherish and laugh on.

Reciting poetry as loud as possible
It’s been quite some years since I left the safe confines of my school to enter into this competitive world where everyone’s in a rush. But, boy, oh boy, I miss my school so much. Those were some of the best carefree days. Shouting my lungs out while reciting poetry is one of the funniest memories that I still cherish. We (my classmates and I) used to yell so loudly that one day our teacher got tired of it and left us all alone.

The class topper
School days were crazy days filled with lots of fun and laughter. If I go back in time, I don’t think I can stop laughing at some of the craziest things that my friends and I indulged. Also, I have always been a topper. And if not a topper, at least I was among the top five....for the only reason being that I use to take tuitions from the same teachers.

Rules of friendship
Once my two best friends and I made a written agreement called the “friendship rules” that stated things such as ‘we would never lie to each other, we would tell each other everything,   etc. And the boys in our class were always too curious to know what the three of us were up to. And finally somehow they managed to find out and what happened next  left the three of us in an embarrassing state. They had actually stolen the agreement, made hundreds of copies of it and distributed it in the entire school. It was so embarrassing but at the same time fun.

Musical innocence
Being dragged out of class by my music teacher who soon became a father figure, Mr Brown, has been one of the most memorable person from my school life. He walked right into my classroom and demanded to take me along because I was too shy to sign up for the western music choir all by myself. It was embarrassing for me but was viewed as a rare perk by my classmates. I’d say that that day changed my life as I was given direction.

Twin tale
Being twins we used to confuse a lot of people in our school including our teachers especially the new ones. I remember that whenever we got any homework we used to do only one copy of it instead of two. The next day after one of us showed our homework, we used to pass on the book secretly to the other and present it again. It was hilarious as to how many times we got away with this. Finally, after a few months our teachers got to know about it and mom and dad were in school the next day, wasn’t a good memory after that though.

Life lessons
As a kid I loved bunking and distracting the ongoing class. During one of my accounts classes, the entire class was quite bored. So we started asking random questions to the professor that revolved around life and how to deal with difficult situations. Our teacher was such a sweetheart that he started explaining to us also. We still laugh about this till date!

Chalk it out
As a kid, I loved flicking chalks and keeping them in my pocket. For all kind of mischievous purpose, of course. One of the main purposes included powdering those collected chalks and rubbing it on seats, especially on our respected teachers’ seats and also some times on our fellow class mates’ seats! It used to be a hilarious site to see people’s bottoms marked in white. What crazy, fun days those were!

Indo-Russian exchange
My most fun school memory has to be the one when I represented my school in music competitions. My Principal’s office used to be full of trophies and awards that my team and I won at different competitions. Also, I have lived more than half of my school life in Russia,  and one fun thing that I did during my school days was to make my Russian friends sing the Indian national anthem. It used to be hilarious listening to them pronounce Hindi and Sanskrit words.

Excuse me, please
As a child I was into silliest ‘pretending to be sick to get off school’ stories. Once, I pretended to be extremely sick to miss school for three consecutive days just because I did not want to do a project and the submission date was pretty near.

Truth and dare
My naughtiest school memory has to be when I was in class eight playing ‘truth and dare’. The game involved both boys and girls from my class and we challenged three out of them to have a bowl full of green chillies, which they even agreed to but after having it, of course, you can tell what must have happened. The Principal and the school teachers got to know about the prank as well and we were punished for the same.

Crushed out
My fondest memories of school would be my first crush. Besides that, the excitement of sneaking your cellphone to school, saving pocket money for kebab rolls, etc. are some other standout memories. In those days the richest person in the class would be the one with maximum Rs 10.
