New Delhi: The special cell of the Delhi Police has arrested one more aide of D-company. He was arrested following a tip-off. Earlier, the cell had arrested three members of the gang.

Police said that the arrested has been identified as Mujeer Jilani Sheikh. He was arrested in connection with plotting to kill Shia waqf board chairman Wasim Rizvi. Sheikh was arrested following a tip-off.

Earlier, three accused, identified as Arif, Abrar and Saleem, were already arrested from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh. The police had information that the trio was in touch with Dawood's right-hand man Chhota Shakeel's men from Dubai, and had been paid in advance to eliminate Rizvi in Lucknow.

In January, Rizvi had written letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, in which he claimed that madrassas bred terrorists and demanded that the Islamic institutions should be shut. In the letter to the prime minister, Rizvi had demanded that madrassas be replaced by schools affiliated to the CBSE or the ICSE which will offer students an optional subject of Islamic education. Rizvi also said that the arrest of three people who were conspiring to kill him clearly shows that he is on target of extremists due to his pro-Ram Mandir stand.
