Cops register rape case against Alok Nath

Mumbai: The Oshiwara police registered a rape case against veteran actor Alok Nath based on a complaint submitted to them by a television soap director. The police said that they would summon Nath for recording his statements soon and that the investigation is still underway to ascertain the facts in the allegations raised in the complaint.

The investigators said that the case was registered late on Tuesday after the preliminary investigation revealed that the allegations could be true. The officials said that the probe however, is still underway and that they are identifying people who could give more details on the said incident and the party at Nath’s resident where the incident took place.

“We have registered a case based on the allegations. The investigation is still on,” said Manoj Sharma, additional commissioner of police, (west region). When asked about the action that would follow based on the case, he said, “Nath would be summoned soon for recording his statement.”

Vinita Nanda submitted the complaint to the Oshiwara police station in October and she sought a criminal case to be filed against Nath. The complaint was a written copy of the write up that she had posted on her Facebook page. The police said that the written complaint stated that the incident took place following a party at Nath’s residence in the absence of his wife and that the crew of TV serial Tara would meet up at Nath’s residence frequently.

“As the evening followed my drinks were mixed and I began to meet strange. Around 2am I left his house however nobody offered to drop me home. He drove in his car and offered to drop me home. I have faint memory after that but can remember liquor being poured into my mouth and being violated,” stated her complaint application.
