Maharashtra topped the medal position with 17 gold, six silver and seven bronze medals.

Pune: Record-breaking performances of Utkarsha Gor, Sanjiti Saha and Vedika Amin sealed Maharashtra’s top position in the medals tally at the final day of 34th Sub-Junior National Aquatic Championship 2017 that concluded in Pune on Friday.

Maharashtra topped the medal position with 17 gold, six silver and seven bronze medals. On the final day, Utkarsha won his fifth gold in the championship by creating a new national record in 200 m individual medley boys category IV.

Sanjiti won fourth gold in the championship creating a new national record in 50 m girls butterfly group III. Vedika Amin won her fourth gold by creating a new national record in 100m girls freestyle group III. “It is a wonderful effort by the entire team and coaches, We led from the start and did not slip. It is great to win at home. Vedika Amin and Utkarsha Gor won individual championships while Sanjiti Saha, Palak Dhami and Apeksha Fernandes gave wonderful performances,” Palak Dhami, State Team Captain said. Assam finished second in the medal tally.
