Satheesh Nair, a ‘vacation photographer’, has been able to capture Varanasi in some stunning frames.

Photography, for many, is a way to escape from the mundane life. For Satheesh Nair, a Qatar-based MNC employee, photography started off as a stress-buster activity, which became his favourite hobby and now, a part of life.

“ For me photography is an art. I started photography as a way out of my daily routine. Working in a petrochemical company and juggling with numbers made my life really boring when I looked for a way out and bought a simple camera. My initial experiments with the camera were horrible. Then with the help of a few senior photographers and friends, I developed a genuine interest in it. Photography helped me  to be compassionate and empathetic towards fellow beings,” says Satheesh.

An ardent traveller, Satheesh believes that travelling and photography could go hand in hand. “Both photography and travel are mutually contributing. I love to travel and experience new places, meet new people and understand their customs. But, being employed overseas and working in an MNC, it is always difficult to travel at our wish. So sometimes my photography is limited to shooting whatever is available during a vacation. You can very much call me a ‘vacation photographer’! I always try to schedule my annual vacation into five to six trips of 10 days each so that I can spare four to five days in each quarter for photography.”

When asked about his favourite location where he would spend his time to photograph, he says, “India is the dream destination for travel photographers around the globe. I am blessed for being born in this beautiful place and lucky enough to travel and shoot in and around India. So even as an Indian, I fancy travelling around our country more than any other place. I would say Varanasi is my favourite location.”
