Shrouded in mystery and glorified by many paranormal reality TV shows and films, haunted houses attract people from all age groups. While the most expensive haunted house on the planet, priced at $110 million dollars, is the White House, rumored to have the ghosts of Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Abigail Adams, and many more roaming the halls at night, there are some very expensive haunted houses that are up for sale. While people don’t shy away from taking adventure trips to local haunted places, these are houses that have become extremely popular tourist attractions. From cottages, mansions to castles and more a lot of haunted houses can give us the chills. Here are a few most expensive haunted houses in the world.

This house was the scene of a horrific incident back in 1974. Ronald DeFeo Jr. murdered all six of his family members in their sleep and it is now reported that the walls ooze blood, doors slam, and furniture moves within this famous establishment.

The Schweppe Estate in Lake Forest, Illinois Price $12 million
In 1941, prince Charles Schweppe was found dead with a note, “I’ve been awake all night. It’s terrible.” It is said that the 28-room mansion is inhabited by Princess Laura, Prince Charles and their servants’ spirits and it is rumoured that the servants still prepare meals for their employers.

The Ennis house in Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles Price $4.5 million
Designed in 1923 by Frank Lloyd Wright, The Ennis house has a unique Mayan look to it and has featured in a number of movies like Blade Runner, House on Haunted Hill, The Day of the Locust and the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The Surgeon’s House in old town of Jerome, Arizona Price $1.2 million
Originally constructed in 1916, this house is currently a bed and breakfast place. Guests have reportedly seen ghosts that resemble maids, dancing couples, and a person with a doctor’s bag.

The Kimball Castle in New Hampshire Price $1.2 million
The castle sits on 23 acres of land which hosts a variety of outbuildings and a stable. Former occupants bear witness to doors opening and closing on their own along with terrifying horse like sounds coming from the existing stable.

LaLaurie house at 1140 Royal Street, New Orleans Price $2.3 million
Actor Nicolas Cage bought the LaLaurie house in 2009 after which his career saw a massive downfall, which was attributed to this house by some. In 1831, the owners of the home had numerous slaves who were all treated poorly. The house caught fire in 1834 killing most of the slaves who are now said to be seen as ghosts walking along the balcony in addition to strange noises being heard.
