The parking garage is 12 feet wide, 23 feet long and more than 15 feet high and can even be duplexed to accommodate an elevator if the buyers wish!

We all know that supercars cost a bomb. But did you know that there are parking lots that cost as much, or even more than the actual cost of a car? One would need a trunk full of cash just to turn off the car engine, and park it safely! This is the price people are willing to pay for ensuring a safe haven for their vehicles! From Manhattan to Chicago, here are the six most expensive parking spots in the world.

Manhattan  Rs 6,76,65,000
In one of the most ostentatious displays of wealth seen, a residence at 66 E, 11th Street in Manhattan sold the city’s first $1 million parking space for anyone in the one per cent bracket, desperately seeking “complete privacy.” The parking garage is 12 feet wide, 23 feet long and more than 15 feet high and can even be duplexed to accommodate an elevator if the buyers wish!

Upton, Hong Kong Rs 4,49,29,560
In the new instalment of jaw-dropping Hong Kong property prices, a parking spot in Upton, a luxury apartment building in the Western District of Hong Kong sold for an exorbitant price. Nestled within Hong Kong’s dense skyscraper jungle, the property sits among some of the world’s most expensive commercial residential spaces.

General Motors Building Rs 2,14,36,272
Nestled in the heart of Manhattan on Fifth Avenue, the GM Building is one of the most recognised and expensive office buildings in the whole of New York. When it comes to parking a car here, the building’s offer is quite limited since it was built back in 1968 when the car count was significantly lower, hence the astronomical parking price!

O’Hare International Airport, Chicago Rs 71,56,318
Chicago’s main airport is one of the busiest airports in terms of the number  of takeoffs and landings. It’s no wonder that the cost for parking here is this expensive! Instead of leaving the car in the airport, one might as well sell it to the first person they come across, and buy a new one when they return!

Back Bay, Boston Rs 3,78,92,400
At an auction, a pair of parking spots in Boston’s August Back Bay neighbourhood were sold off for nearly twice the median sales price of a home in Massachusetts! People are willing to go to great lengths to find the ideal parking spot for their vehicles!

Park Slope, Brooklyn Rs 2,02,99,500
A  parking lot in Brooklyn’s neighbourhood went on sale for this grand sum. While there is no word if someone actually paid the asking price, a spot in the same garage reportedly went for $280,000!

For the price they pay, people can avail the facility of full-time attendants looking after their drive!
