Akshay Oberoi chose Laal Rang over adult comedy

After an unimpactful debut in Isi Life Mein, Akshay Oberoi managed to make the industry sit up and take notice of him in the horror film Pizza. Post that he did small roles in Piku and Fitoor and decided to wait for the right script to fall on his lap. The actor will next be seen in the film Laal Rang. He says that he had got offers for two adult comedies but he let them go in spite of the fat paychecks they came with. He is clear that he wants to play interesting characters, no matter how big or small the film is.

“I did get a lot of offers after my debut. But I chose Laal Rang and other two films that should hopefully release soon — Bombariya and Gurgaon. Fitoor and Piku were just incidental. Mukesh Chhabra just called me to meet Gattu and that’s how Fitoor happened. Then I had shot an ad with Shoojit and he told me let’s do a scene in Piku,” says the actor.

He adds, “Among the scripts that came to me, Laal Rang was the best of the lot. “I didn’t even know that Randeep was in the film; I had met the director before but nothing worked out at the time. Then Afzal (director) met me again and said that he felt I would really suit the part. I think this part has come to me after a lot of other actors. But I am happy that they said no, because when I heard the script I immediately knew that I had to do this.” And what’s so special about his character Akshay says, “There are very few characters that see all kinds of emotions and that was the best aspect of this character.”
