Ali Fazal, Judi Headed to Delhi

The co-stars will be shooting for Victoria and Abdul in Agra too.

Last week, the news of Ali Fazal bagging a Hollywood project—Victoria and Abdul with Dame Judi Dench—took the industry by storm. We’ve scooped out more details of the much-speculated film.

Ali plays a young domestic help from India, who unexpectedly becomes a confidant and teacher to Queen Victoria, played by Dench.

A source goes on to reveal, “Judy Dench and Ali Fazal will be coming to India next month to shoot a portion of the schedule. It will start from November 11 in Delhi and Agra.”

The film is based on Shrabani Basu’s book Victoria and Abdul: The True Story of the Queen’s Closet Confidant. Stephen Frears, who had also made the critically acclaimed Philomena with Dench will helm the movie. Focus Entertainment, a division of NBC Universal, will distribute the film being produced by Working Title Films worldwide.
