Arijit’s melodious revenge on Salman’s Jag Ghoomiya
Even as the much talked about track Jag Ghoomiya from Sultan made its way onto the Internet, Arijit Singh’s new love ballad Tere Bina Jee Na Lage has hit the airwaves too.
Even as the much talked about track Jag Ghoomiya from Sultan made its way onto the Internet, Arijit Singh’s new love ballad Tere Bina Jee Na Lage has hit the airwaves too. Only late last month, Jag Ghoomiya had been mired in controversy, thanks to Rahat fateh Ali Khan replacing Arijit to sing the track for the Salman Khan starrer.
Arijit now seems to have moved on from the hullabaloo to croon Tere Bina, which has been penned by eminent lawyer and Congress stalwart Kapil Sibal.
Arijit, at his evocative best said, “I had no idea that Mr Sibal had written the track when composer Niladri Kumar offered it to me. Only later when I got to know this did I realise that the lyrics were out of the ordinary since they were penned by Mr Sibal.”
Arijit, who is known to be rather self-critical, likes what he hears of himself in Tere Bina. “It’s one of those songs which I would like to play to my guruji. He is no longer with me, but wherever he is, I’m sure he’d be happy to hear it.”
The singer says that he has moved on from the bitterness of losing the Sultan song. When quizzed on whether Rahat had spoken to him before stepping in for the song, a taken aback Arijit replies, “No, he didn’t speak to me. Such things do not happen in the entertainment business any more.”
