It’s been almost a year-and-a-half since the leading lady of Waaris, Aarti Singh, broke up with her boyfriend of three years, actor Ayaz Khan. But she is yet to get over the relationship. Aarti recalls, “We used to fight a lot, so we decided to end it mutually. There was no point in crying or being bitter about it. Of course, it affected me. Fortunately, my family was there to support me during that turbulent phase.” She continues, “Had we hated each other while breaking up, it would have been easy for me to move on. But we continued to remain friends and talked once in a while. Moving on is difficult because Ayaz is the best human being I have ever known. I still haven’t come across a guy better than him. Ayaz made me a better person. He taught me to say ‘thank you’ to people and that’s a huge thing. It is tough to find a guy like him.”

The actress becomes emotional as she continues. “Ayaz is set to get married to Delhi-based girl. He is a great guy. I am sure the girl he is marrying is the luckiest woman in this whole world. I know he is going to do everything to make her happy,” she says. Aarti states that she even admitted to her brother Krushna Abhishek about her intentions to get into a relationship. “After a long day at work, I don’t entertain people because I feel low. I want to get married now. Four days ago, I called up Krushna and told him I don’t feel like going home because I have nobody waiting for me at home. I coaxed him to find a guy for me.”

Work has taken the actress’ mind off the turmoil and given her much-needed solace. Professionally, things are looking up for Aarti with her comeback show, Waaris, bringing her laurels. “After doing character roles and getting slotted in a category, it feels great to make a comeback as a lead. I have given my heart and soul to the show. This is a do or die situation for me,” she says.

The show now rests completely on her shoulders now since leading man Iqbal quit Waaris. She says, “I wish Iqbal was around. He has got a massive fan following. His presence would have certainly helped but we had to let him go because the story is about the girl who is turned into a boy by the mother. Luckily Iqbals’s exit has not made any difference as we continue to have our loyal audience.”
