Dippy gets lessons in Gujarati from SLB

Deepika Padukone admits that Ram-Leela has been her most challenging role. What was really difficult, she adds, was getting used to the language and accent. Apparently, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “lucky charm” Aishwarya Rai too had faced a similar problem during the making of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Back then, SLB and his beloved mamma had stepped in to add perfection to Aishwarya’s accent and body language. This time too, the two have taken Dippy under their wings and groomed her to portray the perfect Gujarati girl. The actress has also been taking cues from her close friends who’re from the state, to get into the character of Leela. Contrary to reports, however, she hasn’t sought any professional coaching. “I have a lot of Gujarati friends, so I’m familiar with the language and culture. Having said that, because Leela is more like the girls of today, I didn’t have to change my accent completely but just throw in a couple of phrases here and there,” Dippy clarified.
