In the trailer of Sultan, one hears a strong voice in the background that introduces Salman’s character in the film. It says, “Haryana ka sher, Haryana ki shaan, Haryana ki jaan, Sultan Ali Khan” (the pride of Haryana, Sultan Ali Khan).
The voice has a strong Haryanvi accent as well, which does its bit to set the tone of the story. The voiceover had featured in the teaser too.
We hear that since the film tells the story of a sportsperson, there are many wrestling scenes that feature heavy commentary in the background. And in parts of the film that show the younger days of Sultan’s life when he was just starting out, the voice will feature prominently.
It seems that for the part, no professional voiceover artist was roped in. In fact, it is director Ali Abbas Zafar who has lent his voice to the scenes. A source revealed, “Ali tried it during dubbing the scenes and the results were very good. He did have to work on the accent but after some practice, he got it spot on. When the voice was placed in the trailer, everyone including Salman Khan loved it.”
When contacted, Ali confirmed saying he has indeed lent his voice to certain portions of the film. Looks like this filmmaker is quite a hit behind the microphone too.
