During an award function held in Mumbai on Tuesday, actor Saif Ali Khan reacted to Maharashtra, Navnirman Sena’s threat issued to Pakistani artistes, urging them to leave the country. With a veiled reference to Raj Thackeray’s men he said, “The film industry is open to world talent, especially (to those) across border. The government has to decide these things. We are artists, so we will talk about love and peace. It is the government that makes laws and decides who is allowed to work and who isn’t.”

MNS’ threat came as a reaction to the Uri attack that claimed the lives of 18 jawaans. Following the threat, MNS also staged a protest outside Karan Johar’s production house office since his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in a prominent role. 15 of the protesters were later arrested by the police.
