Kiara Advani is all set to portray Sakshi Dhoni in M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story. The pretty actress who made her debut with Fugly in 2014, will be seen alongside Sushant Singh Rajput, who plays the lead role. In a quick chat, she talks about her upcoming projects, her struggles in the industry, and more. Excerpts:
How excited were you to play a real life role in M.S. Dhoni I’m very thrilled to play Sakshi in the movie. She’s so relatable to me in real life since she’s a very transparent woman. I met her at a party and she was handling her daughter without the help of a nanny; she leads a normal life like I do. It was fun playing her on screen.
You’re also starring in Abbas-Mustan’s Machine. How was the experience of shooting for it I’m very excited for this film. I am sure that the Indian audience won’t have seen Georgia in any Hindi film like they will in Machine. It’s a typical Abbas-Mustan romantic thriller. They’re the most humble and genuine people I’ve come across so far in the industry. It was also an amazing experience with Mustafa, who is making his debut in the movie.
You also shot with Salman Khan for his charity campaign... It was a wonderful experience with Salman sir. We shot for the autumn-winter collection for his campaign. I’m glad I got an opportunity to contribute to this charity along with him.
How much has life changed after your debut in the debacle that was Fugly I wouldn’t be here if Fugly wouldn’t have released. My performance was appreciated in the movie. Abbas-Mustan and Neeraj Pandey must have seen something in me that they signed me for their respective films and I’ve learned a lot from them. It may have been hard for me to sustain post Fugly, but that tough phase taught me to work even harder and handle odd situations. I’m happy with the way my career has shaped up so far.
Do you believe Bollywood is tough for newcomers Despite being from a film family, I’ve had my share of struggles. I feel any industry is tough to excel in. I believe it’s the correct focus on the right things that matters in the end.
