How Shahid got the Udta... look right

Shahid Kapoor’s long tresses for the film were his own idea, says celebrity hairstylist Aalim Hakim

Shahid Kapoor’s crazed out look in the upcoming film Udta Punjab has been creating a lot of stir ever since the trailer of the film released a couple of days ago. His look in the film is the result of a series of trials and errors over months together.

Leading hair stylist Aalim Hakim who styles the actor for all his films says, “We experimented a lot to get this look right. Earlier I was thinking of keeping a long ponytail, then we thought of shaving it off, and once we even considered keeping a Mohawk. But finally we zeroed in on the asymmetric hairdo — one side long and one side short and we have also added two electric blue streaks.”

He says that it was actually Shahid’s idea to keep the hairstyle like that. “We spent an entire night toying with several ideas before Shahid had this brainwave,” Aalim reveals. Shahid is one of the few actors who has never shied away from trying out radically different looks and styles. “He is always eager to experiment with his hair and I think that’s what makes him a trendsetter,” Aalim says.
