Actress Tamannaah on her upcoming film Abhinetri and how difficult it is to do a tri-lingual
Tamannaah’s Abhinetri, a horror comedy, which is releasing in three languages Telugu, Tamil and Hindi, has her playing dual roles as Devi and Ruby. “This is not a completely horror film, but it’s an entertainment. There is a ghost in the film, but it does not scare anyone,” affirms Tamannah. The actress says that this is the last time that she is doing a tri-lingual film since it is tough to work in such films. “Doing a tri-lingual film is not easy. It is very strenuous. Initially, it was planned to be made in Tamil and Hindi only, but I suggested making a Telugu version as I have a market here as well,” says Tamannaah.
“I feel as though I have acted in three films, but in reality, we completed the film in a single film schedule. The three languages are so different and the lip sync too is completely different. After doing a scene for Telugu, I had to do it in Tamil and Hindi separately. I was exhausted doing the same scene three times in three different ways,” confesses the actress.
The actress has also done a special song in an upcoming film Jaguar. When asked about it, she says, “We have already finished the shooting. I think people enjoy my dance numbers. I still don’t understand why, in the South, people think negatively about a top actress appearing in a special song. There is no such problem in Hindi films — Deepika, Katrina and Kareena often do item numbers. The problem is only in the South and I want to break it. When a song is choreographed in a dignified manner, why can’t we do it ” she asks. Incidentally, the teasers of her dance in Abhinetri have already left people spellbound. She adds that actresses of her stature, like Shruti and Kajal, are also doing special numbers and it adds a glamour quotient to the film. “The audience wants to see us in a special songs,” she adds. When asked if she was paid a high fee for it, she quickly retorts, “I always charge a high fee.”
The actress has a few projects lined up both in Tamil and Telugu. “I have to finish the climax scenes of Baahubali,” she says. When asked about Kattappa killing Baahubali, she says, “I was not there at that time. I don’t think anyone was there while it was being shot. I think Rajamouli completed the scene when he did the first part itself and no one knew the story.”
