Yo Yo Honey Singh made a comeback of sorts when he released Dheere Dheere Se Meri Zindagi last year. Yo Yo had been on a hiatus when he released the chartbuster, which was inspired by the hit Aashiqui song of the same name.

It was bad enough that Yo Yo’s cover version did not credit the love ballad’s original composers Nadeem-Shravan, now it seems like the singer himself has forgotten that the song has been inspired by the 1999 hit.

On The Kapil Sharma Show, Yo Yo appeared as a guest and spoke about struggling with bipolar disorder and being away from the limelight for one and a half years. Yo Yo said he had been composing Dheere Dheere Se during that time and when he was unable to complete the tune, his mother stepped in and helped him out.

When contacted, the original composer, Nadeem Saifi of duo Nadeem-Shravan, was livid that Yo Yo had failed to acknowledge him and his partner for the song. “I would first like you to first ask Honey Singh his date of birth, because I feel he must be in his nappies when I composed this song. I am surprised at the audacity of baby Yo Yo to make such baseless claim on national TV,” Nadeem said.

Reasserting his claim on the song, Nadeem stressed that the hookline of the song was what made it such a hit. “My lyricist Sameer Anjan, my partner Shravan, producer Mukesh Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Anuradha Paudwalji and a hundred other musicians are witness to the composing of this song and a thousand other such super hit numbers that are blaring on radios across the world,” he fumed.

Admitting that he’s contemplating legal action, Nadeem said, “I have refrained from suing these amateurs only because this song was dedicated to our beloved Gulshanji (father of Bhushan Kumar, producer of Yo Yo’s version of the song). But if push comes to shove, I think I may have to take this up to the legal system.”
