No Rangoon for Rangoon

In keeping with its title, the team of Rangoon wanted to shoot portions of the film in Rangoon, former capital of Myanmar (Burma). In fact, the unit was to be Rangoon-bound at the end of January. But looks like that won’t happen since the crew has been denied permission to shoot in the country as of now. Hence, the shoot may move to Mumbai after completing a schedule in Arunachal Pradesh.

A source from the crew said, “There have been some new law enforcements that are making it difficult to shoot in Myanmar but the makers are hoping to speak to officials and pursue the process. If that doesn’t happen however, then the shoot will move to Mumbai where two sets have been erected for the film — one in Chandivali and the other in Madh Island.”

Director Vishal Bhardwaj remained unavailable for comment.
