Purple, black or blue, It’s her choice, says Richa Chaddha

Actress Richa Chadda, who recently attended the Cannes Film Festival for the screening of Sarbjit along with the film’s entire cast, is very happy with the way the film has been received there. However, what made more waves at the festival was her co-star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s choice of lipstick after she showed up on the red carpet sporting purple lips. While some lauded her bold choice, she also became a target for trolls on social media.
Richa, who was with Ash at the festival, tells us about her take on the attention her co-star’s lips have received and says, “Like most others, I too focus a lot on fashion and that is why I always make it a point to be well-dressed. However, it’s not smart to just focus on the fashion at a film festival, but that’s what happens most of the time because not many of our films make it to the competition section.”
Ash’s bold look impressed many, but she also had to face harsh criticism from many quarters, especially the social media. Ask Richa how she deals with the kind of backlash actresses are often subjected to and she says, “I didn’t follow this whole issue at all because discussing something like an actress’ lipstick is so unimportant. She has a contract with a skin care brand and if she is going to wear a lipstick — purple, black, blue or whatever — it’s her choice. She is doing her job at the end of the day because she is launching a new colour. I think her job was done when people sat down and discussed her purple lipstick for a few days.”
