Ram Gopal Varma may have churned out a few flops over the years, but one can’t deny his expertise when it comes to directing crime dramas. One of his most iconic movies, Sarkar, starring Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan released in 2005. The movie garnered a good collection at the box office, and its 2008 sequel, Sarkar Raj also had a decent run. Eight years after the movie, RGV has finally announced the film’s third instalment, Sarkar 3.

The film will see quite a few Bollywood stars coming together, with Big B in the lead as Subhash Nagre or Sarkar along with Manoj Bajpayee and Yami Gautam. Yami plays the role of Annu Karkare, who wants to take revenge on Sarkar for killing her father, while Manoj plays Govind Deshpande—a character loosely based on a rather cranky version of Arvind Kejriwal. Ronit Roy will also be seen in the movie in the role of Sarkar’s right hand man, Gokul Satam while Amit Sadh stars as Shivaji aka Cheeku. Pitted against Sarkar is Jackie Shroff, the chief antagonist who is referred to as ‘Sir’ throughout the film.

Now it seems as though Shabana Azmi may be joining the Sarkar bandwagon. A source close reveals, “The latest entrant in the star cast is veteran Shabanaji and she will be seen in a pivotal role. Details about her character is still under wraps.” When contacted, she didn’t revert to our messages.
