In an attempt to revive Russia’s love for B’wood since the days of Raj Kapoor, his grandson Ranbir and team Tamasha are aiming at a Russia release and premiere

Russia was at one point in time, a strategic Bollywood market given the popularity that the Kapoor patriarch Raj Kapoor enjoyed in the country. The youngest Kapoor we now hear is trying to revive the legacy along with the makers of Tamasha by aiming for a proper release in Russia and possibly a premiere too.

A representative from the marketing team of the film says, “We need to understand why our relations with Russia kind of ended with Raj Kapoor and did not reach Ranbir’s generation. It’s up to us now to extend this relationship so more people from Russia are seen singing Indian film songs. Yes we are looking at a proper release for Tamasha in Russia and the possibility of flying to the country with Ranbir and the entire team.”

So how did this idea come about “We were on Comedy Nights with Kapil for Tamasha promotions, and we had some Russian filmmakers in attendance. They invited Deepika Padukone to star in Russian movies and the feedback from Kapil’s team too was very encouraging. From the feedback we got from our team, Ranbir is open to working in Russian films too, since his grandfather is much loved there.”

Recently, new films such as Piku and Haider were screened at the Moscow film festival.
