Which film will win at the box office
Both Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay have a few good and not so good things going on for it.
Both Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay have a few good and not so good things going on for it. While Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM) has no dearth of marquee names — Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma — their last film together Bombay Velvet sank without a trace. However, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Fawad Khan have a substantial fan following. Shivaay, on the other hand, has only Ajay Devgn as a crowdpuller. Ajay has directed the film which is not necessarily a cause for celebration. His previous directorial outing U Me Aur Hum sank without a trace.
Trade analyst Amod Mehra says that Shivaay will probably sell more tickets because of its content. He says, “People like to opt for family oriented movies during Diwali. Shivaay being an action film has an edge as far as the single screen goes. ADHM is bound to score better in multiplexes as it caters heavily to the youth and family audiences. However, the film with better content will prove to be the winner.”
While both the films are releasing in approximately same number of screens — between 2,800 to 3,000 screens — trade analyst, Atul Mohan, feels ADHM will emerge victorious in this clash of the two big banner films. Atul expects ADHM to open at around Rs 15 crores and Shivaay at around Rs 10 crores He reasons, “ADHM is likely to score more at the multiplexes at major metros and Shivaay will draw attention from the mass audiences who patronise single screens. ADHM has Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and some very good music. The music for Shivaay hasn’t picked up that well. And you have only one big name in the film. On paper, ADHM should have a definite edge over Shivaay.”
