Is the pen mightier than the sword Well, at least that’s what a bevy of erstwhile B-town actresses believe, as they’re all set to put a point across – by penning down their thoughts, via personal blogs, of course! Back in the year 2014, actor- turned-author Twinkle Khanna kick-started the trend of penning down seemingly mundane occurrences in her life intertwined with humorous instances through her blog MrsFunnyBones. While the idea found critical acclaim, another contemporary seems to be following suit — actor Raveena Tandon recently posted a blow-by-blow account of some of the ‘lesser known truths about Bollywood. Implying how she intends to unveil the facade of several Bollywood superstars and their below the belt shenanigans. The ‘90s star also lauded Kangana Ranaut for standing up for what she felt was right, in the midst of all the mud-slinging. While the post garnered much talk, the idea was rewarding enough to get Ms. Tandon attention online. Even erstwhile starlet Pooja Bedi has expressed views through her blogs in the past, and enjoys a steady online presence.

Sachin A Tantry, a journalism and new media professor, Jain University, asserts how the idea is a sagacious attempt at being in the news. “Clearly, digital media is booming massively and a strong online presence is the best investment for personal branding. Actors like Twinkle Khanna and Pooja Bedi are articulate enough to put a point across, and they’re drawing mass attention through their blogs. It’s a brilliant attempt to stay in the minds of the public, by steering away from a profession which brought them popularity. It’s a smart move, which almost works like a fail safe way to make a comeback— into the minds of the audiences, without the fear of receiving flak or being compared to the younger bunch. One thing is certain – clicks are mightier than one’s career record. And these actors have learnt the knacks of the trade,” he concludes
