The first art book Mirror to the World is curated by well-known art curators and critics Uma Nair and Suneet Chopra.
Artist Sanjay Bhattacharyya launched his two books at India Habitat Centre at an event held on Saturday. The launch was attended by actor and politician Jaya Bachchan, media personality Pritish Nandy, archaeological restorer Aman Nath and MD and publisher of Parragon Publishing India, Vineet Sharma.
The first art book — Mirror to the World — is curated by well-known art curators and critics Uma Nair and Suneet Chopra. They have provided detailed descriptions for Sanjay’s paintings featured in the book. It not only showcases his love for the canvas and oil paintings but also shows his love for other mediums.
Artist, photographer and poet, Sanjay belives “a painting must make an impact, hold one spell-bound” and his first book aims to do the same. The book also covers the art scene of Bengal in the late 1960s and 1970s, streets of Kolkata, Bengal’s folk art as well as Lord Krishna paintings.
The second book Deep Dark Sigh is a collection of poetry and narrates Sanjay’s life from his college days till now. He has penned his innermost feelings in the poems. The book has Bengali poetry along with its English version, and a DVD with Sanjay reciting a few poems. Both books will be available in bookstores and on online portals.
