Maruti unveils small car concept FutureS

The FutureS is a compact car with SUV style is expected to take on Renault's Kwid and Mahindra KUV100.

Greater Noida: Maruti Suzuki on Wednesday unveiled concept small car with SUV features FutureS to cater to rising demand for “compact cars” in India.

It also showcased its electric vehicle concept  SUV “e-SURVIVOR” to demonstrate the company’s efforts in the direction of electric mobility. Maruti will launch its first locally manufactured electric car in India in 2020.    

The FutureS is a compact car with SUV style is expected to take on Renault’s Kwid and Mahindra KUV100. It has smartly integrated SUV features in compact dimensions without disturbing the proportions.

“Two years ago, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, designed and developed in India, was unveiled here. Today, we unveil an idea, a concept that once again promises to redefine the Indian market,” said Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO, Maruti Suzuki.

Mr Ayukawa said that compact is the natural choice of India’s car customers. “It is an answer  to concerns of congestion and emission. Nearly 75 per cent of passenger vehicles bought in India are small and compact vehicles, powering the country to the global top three in this segment and to the fourth largest overall,” he said.
