PUNE: BMW, Indian second biggest German luxury car maker, on Monday introduced the BMW M5 Competition sedan priced at Rs 1.55 crore to boost sales and to take on the likes of Audi RS7 and Mercedes E63 S AMG in world’s fourth largest auto market.

This high performance-focused sedan brought to India via the CBU (completely built-up) route is available at BMW dealerships across India from Monday.

It effectively replaces the standard M5 in BMW India’s line-up and costs Rs 12 lakh more.

The new M5 Competition sports a number of M-specific changes over the standard sedan, including gloss-black accents on the kidney grille, ORVMs, side air vents, rear diffuser and spoiler.

M-specific twin exhaust and M5 Competition badging are also part of the package.

It also gets a more aggressive side-skirt, front bumper and rear bumper, along with a high-strength carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) roof which is specific to the Competition model.

“The M Division from BMW has always catered to the highest aspirations and imagination of our performance oriented customers,” Rudratej Singh, President and Chief Operating Officer at BMW Group India, said.

Those who seek the rush of racetrack adrenaline in daily life do not look beyond the BMW M models, he boasted.
