Rolls-Royce Cullinan international debut on May 10

Cullinan to arrive in India by the end of this year.

Update: 2018-05-09 03:46 GMT
Rolls-Royce has arrived in the SUV world.

Rolls-Royce is all set to debut its first SUV, the Cullinan. After several spy pics, official camouflaged images and videos, the luxurious SUV will finally make its international debut on May 10, 2018. However, it will be an online unveiling only and a physical unveil is expected to take place later this year. If you are living in India, you can watch the unveiling from 4:30 pm onwards on the British carmaker’s official website.

Now, to the “all-new, high-bodied car" itself. The Cullinan is built on Rolls-Royce’s proprietary new ‘Architecture of Luxury’ aluminium spaceframe which allows for a varied wheelbase. Like the Phantom, this could mean that the Cullinan might get a long wheelbase (LWB) avatar in the future. Powering the SUV will most likely be the all-new 6.75-litre, twin-turbocharged V12 engine from the 2018 Phantom. It could come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, sending power to all four wheels. RR might also introduce a hybrid variant as well but at a much later stage.

Inside, the SUV, like the sedans, will offer a world of luxury. It will also have all the unnecessary customisation options to make each car unique, like the 44,000 exterior colour options on the new Phantom. We expect the Cullinan to arrive in India by the end of this year, with a price tag more than the Bentaygas and Urus’ which cost south of Rs 3 crore, possibly the most expensive production SUV. But if going off-road in bespoke luxury is your thing, no price is too high.
