Triumph Street Scrambler to be priced under Rs 8 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

It seems Triumph people are too busy these days. After entering into a deal with the local giant Bajaj for expanding its presence in the 400cc to 700cc segment, the bike maker is all set to widen its India portfolio. Triumph has revealed that it would be launching an all-new bike on August 24, and it is expected that the bike in question is most likely the Street Scrambler. It derives its design cues from the iconic Bonneville motorcycles.

It looks very similar to the Street Twin, apart from the Scrambler-centric functional features like the side-mounted exhaust system, engine bash plate, wire-spoke wheels with a 19-inch wheel up-front, a removable pillion seat to make room for the rear luggage rack and removable pillion foot pegs as well. Fuel tank capacity is 12 litres, which is the same as the Street Twin. Seat height at 792mm is higher than that seen on the Street Twin, which is 750mm.

Mated to a six-speed gearbox, the Triumph Street Scrambler will be powered by the same 900cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that powers the Street Twin. It will also feature similar power and torque figures as the Twin does, which is 55PS @ 5900rpm and 80Nm of peak torque, produced significantly early in the torque band, at 2850rpm.

The bike will also get features like switchable ABS, switchable traction control, Ride By Wire, Torque-Assist Clutch, Immobiliser and a USB Power Socket. If launched, we expect the Triumph Street Scrambler to be priced under Rs 8 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi) and rival the Ducati Scrambler Icon, which is priced at Rs 7.23 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).
