BMW launches new S1000 RR at Rs 18.50 lakh
The engine on the Supersport continues to be a 999cc, in-line four, but it has gone through a few changes.
New Delhi: First showcased at the EICMA show in Milan last year, BMW has launched all three variants of the S1000RR in the Indian market on Thursday. The Standard model comes with a price tag of Rs 18.50 lakh, while the Pro and Pro M Sport variants are priced at Rs 20.95 lakh and Rs 22.95 lakh, respectively (all prices, ex-showroom).
The engine on the Supersport continues to be a 999cc, in-line four, but it has gone through a few changes. Its international-spec unit produces 207 hp at 13,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm, which is a rise of 8 hp over its earlier model, with torque remaining unchanged. Moreover, it is now lighter by some 11 kg. The engine now uses BMW's ShiftCam Technology, which allows variable valve timing (VVT). This tech promises to deliver more performance throughout the rev range. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed unit with an up-down quick-shifter.
In terms of design, It sports a pair of LED projector headlamps, a new aluminium twin spar chassis and a trellis sub-frame. It also gets a colour TFT instrument console and Bluetooth navigation while safety features include dynamic traction control Shift Assist Pro and hill start assist. The 6 axis IMU helps power the cornering ABS and dynamic traction control. The 2019 BMW S1000RR is presented in four riding modes of Rain, Road, Dynamic and Race, which can be toggled via its 6.5" full TFT display.
Available in three colour options — Black Storm Metallic, Racing Red / Light White and Light White / Lupin Blue Metallic / Racing Red The new BMW S 1000 RR will compete with the Yamaha YZF-R1, Suzuki GSX-R1000, Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R in India.
