Dhan Dhana Dhan effect: Vodafone offers 4GB free data

This comes a day after Reliance Jio introduced a new offer for Rs 309 with three months validity.

Update: 2017-04-12 09:53 GMT
The offer will be valid only on a 4G device

Mumbai: A day after Reliance Jio unveiled Dhan Dhana Dhan, Vodafone uncovered a free 4GB data plan, according to NDTV. Existing Vodafone customers can avail the offer by simply switching over to a new Vodafone Supernet 4G SIM card.

"Vodafone 4G SIMs are available at all Vodafone Stores, Vodafone Mini Stores or multi brand outlets located across Mumbai," NDTV quoted Vodafone as saying.

Vodafone says the company was offering 4GB data free to its 210 million loyal customers to experience the benefits of a Data Strong Network and enjoy "unparalleled mobile internet services".

Vodafone prepaid users who switch to Supernet 4G SIM can use the 4GB free data through a validity period of 10 days. Whereas, Vodafone post-paid users can use the 4GB free data till next billing date.

"The free data shall be added to the customer's data balance on upgrading to a 4G SIM," Vodafone said in a statement added.

Vodafone India Mumbai business head Pushpinder Singh Gujral said the telco was proud to be a preferred telecom services provider in Mumbai with over 9 million customers in the metropolis alone.

Reliance Jio, telecom arm of energy bellwether Reliance Industries, has disrupted India's telecom market. Jio started its free unlimted data and free unlimited voice calls services on September 5 last year.

Since then, incumbent telecom operators Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular have adopted a number of surviving tactics, offering data and voice calls on cheaper rates.

Reliance Jio's advent in telecom market has proved 'survival of the fittest' a wrong expression. It is rather, it is clear now, a survival of the cheapest in the Indian telecom market.
