Flipkart to hire 1.15 lakh for festivals

Chennai: Flipkart is creating direct seasonal employment for more than 1.15 lakh people this festive season. Of this, 15 per cent jobs will go to women and people with disabilities.

The Big Billion Days require investments for capacity, storage, sorting, packaging, human resour-ces, training, and delivery, which help generate additional employment during the festive season, the company said. Further, to strengthen its supply chain in the run-up to the festivals, Flipkart has added 66 new large-scale fulfillment and sortation centres in various states.

Similarly, tech-driven consumer supply chain company Stellar Value Chain Solutions hired 5,000 people in various roles ahead of the festive season to cater to the growing demand in e-commerce and other segments such as fashion lifestyle and retail, FMCG and consumer durables. The new recruitments are for transportation, hub and sorting centres and warehousing facilities in metros as well as non-metro cities.
