Sunil Kumar given additional charge as MTNL chairman

New Delhi: State-owned MTNL on Thursday said its director Sunil Kumar has been given additional charge of chairman and managing director of the company.

Kumar is currently Director (Human Resources and Enterprise Business) at MTNL and takes over from P K Purwar who was recently appointed chairman and managing Director of BSNL.

"Government has entrusted the additional charge of the post of CMD, MTNL, to Sunil Kumar, Director (HR&EB)...with effect from July 24, 2019 for a period up to October 14, 2019 or until further orders or till the appointment of regular incumbent whichever is the earliest and accordingly...Sunil Kumar has taken over the charge of CMD," MTNL said in a regulatory filing.

Debt-ridden MTNL, which operates telecom services in the Delhi and Mumbai circles, has been incurring consistent losses and is now awaiting a comprehensive revival plan from the government.
