Petrol price up by 7 paise, diesel by Rs 5 paise across major cities
In Delhi petrol and diesel are the cheapest among all metros and most state capitals due to lower taxes.
Mumbai: Petrol and diesel price rose again on Thursday with a climb of 5-7 paise in petrol costs whereas diesel was raised by 5-6 paise per litre across major cities of the country.
On Wednesday, retail of petrol and diesel price was kept unchanged by the oil marketing companies. In Delhi petrol and diesel are the cheapest among all metros and most state capitals due to lower taxes.
A litre of petrol now costs Rs 71.82 a litre in Delhi, Rs 77.50 in Mumbai, Rs 74.63 in Chennai, Rs 74.21 in Bengaluru and Rs 74.49 in Kolkata.
Diesel, on the other hand, costs Rs 65.19, Rs 68.37, Rs 68.90, Rs 67.41, Rs 67.50 per litre in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata respectively.
In the international oil market, crude prices dropped on Thursday, Oil prices went up amid moves to ease trade tensions between the US and China Beijing and a fall in US crude inventories to the lowest in nearly a year. International Brent crude oil futures were trading at USD 61.22 per barrel, up 41 cents or, 0.7 per cent, from their last close.
Meanwhile, averting a trade war, US President Donald Trump has hailed Beijing’s decision to exempt 16 categories of products from its tariffs and announced a delay to scheduled tariff hikes on USD 250 billion worth of Chinese goods.
