GST collection sees rise after two months

Some 56.30 lakh GSTR 3B returns have been filed for the month of December, 2017 till January 24, 2018.

New Delhi: After falling for two straight months, the GST collection in December rose to Rs 86,703 crore. The collection in November was Rs 80,808 crore.

The highest  GST collections till date has been in July at Rs 95,000 crore when the new indirect tax regime was launched.

“The total revenue received under GST for the month of December 2017 (received in December/January) has been Rs 86,703 crore till January  24 2018,” said the finance ministry.

The last date for filing of GSTR 3B return for the month of December 2017 was January 22, 2018.  

The ministry said that  one crore taxpayers have been registered under GST so far till January 24, 2018 of which 17.11 lakh  are composition  dealers which are required to file returns every quarter.

Some 56.30 lakh GSTR 3B returns have been filed for the month of December, 2017 till January 24, 2018.

For the composition dealers, for the July-September quarter, the last date of filing GSTR4 return was December 24, it said. A total of 8.10 lakh returns were filed amounting to Rs 335.86 crore.

For the December quarter, the last date for filing GSTR4 return was January 18, and a total of 9.25 lakh returns were filed by composition dealers paying a sum of Rs 421.35 crore, it added.
