While the fund raising through the IPO route has seen an almost five-fold jump in FY16, the total funds mobilised by India Inc through the public equity markets including OFS and QIP has seen a 17 per cent drop as several public sector undertaking deferred their offering amidst a volatile secondary market. In this fiscal, India Inc has raised Rs 48,952 crore as compared to Rs 58,801 crore in FY15.
The funds raised thro-ugh IPOs stood at Rs 14,772 crore compared to Rs 3,019 crore raised in FY15. On the other hand, capital raised through OFS came down to Rs 19,882 crore in FY16 from Rs 26,935 crore witnessed in the previous year. Similarly, funds raised through the QIP route almost halved to Rs 14,358 crore from Rs 28429 crore in FY15.
“The year could have been even better but for the deferment of several PSU offerings. However, a major revival was witnessed in the IPO market after four dismal years,” said Pranav Haldea, MD, Prime Database.
