Just a week after replacing Cyrus Mistry as the chairman of Tata Sons and disbanding his advisory council, the company has put in place a new management team comprising five executives, including two former advisors of Mr Mistry.

According to a statement from Tata Sons, the new team comprises of S. Padmanabhan, who will oversee the group’s human resource responsibilities in addition to his existing role of leading the Tata Business Excellence Group.

Dr Mukund Rajan, who is in charge of ethics and sustainability at the group has been asked to shoulder the additional responsibility of overseeing the operations of the overseas representative offices of Tata Sons in the USA, Singapore, Dubai and China. Harish Bhatt in addition to his responsibilities for marketing and customer-centricity will henceforth also be responsible for managing the Tata Brand.

“In the interim, he will also oversee the functions of strategy and business development,” Tata Sons said. While Gopichand Katragadda will continue to be the Group’s chief technology officer, Sanjay Singh will oversee the public affairs function out of the Delhi office.

The company further added that Nirmalya Kumar, N.S. Rajan and Madhu Kannan have decided to explore options outside Tata Sons and have left the services of the company. All three of them were members of the now disbanded Group Executive Council handpicked by Mr Mistry.

On October 24, Tata Sons ousted Mr Mistry from the top job and appointed Ratan Tata as its interim chairman. A panel was also set up to select a new chairman within a period of four months.
