India cricketer Virat Kohli was so impressed with his idol Sachin Tendulkar during his growing up years that he used to buy the same style of shoes that the Mumbaikar wore on the cricket field time and again. “I have idolised him since I was very young. I used to buy the same pair of shoes that I saw him wearing while playing, the white one with red stripes. I have always been impressed with whatever he wore,” Kohli said at a promotional event here on Thursday. The 24-year-old has been tipped to come closest to Tendulkar’s mammoth records by many, including the Master Blaster himself, who on the occasion wished Kohli a great career ahead through a pre-recorded video massage. “You are a terrific team man. This is only the beginning of a great career. Continue to enjoy your cricket,” Tendulkar said. Known to be aggressive on the field, Kohli warned the Australians ahead of the upcoming ODI series, “We would want to answer them with the bat but we are not here to hear (if they say anything).”
