In a bid to project the “best” candidates for the upcoming Assembly Polls which are scheduled to be held on December 4, the Delhi BJP is giving tickets to “man of the masses,” and might deny tickets to eight sitting MLAs, said a senior party leader. The sources informed that the party is not in favour of giving a ticket to Satya Prakash Rana, who was planning to contest from Bijwasan and may give the chance to Ram Niwas Pehalwan. Meanwhile, from Moti Nagar Assembly, Madan Lal Khurana’s son Vimal Khurana might contest elections in place of Subhash Sachdeva. Also, Dharam Dev Solanki from Palam may also lose a chance to contest polls. The ticket of Shyam Lal Garg, who was planning to contest from Shakurbasti, might see two strong contenders — former Delhi BJP president Vijendra Gupta and BJP national executive member Vani Tripathi. Meanwhile, Dr S.C.L. Gupta’s ticket of Sangam Vihar may be handed over to Vijay Jolly. In addition to this, Rajpal Rana or Delhi Yuva Morch president Gaurav Khari might replace Sri Krishna Tyagi. Pradyuman Rajput from Dwarka and Naresh Gaur from Baburpur may also lose the tickets, the sources say. Also, Arti Mehra, the national secretary of BJP, might contest elections from Malviya Nagar. Whereas Vijay Goel might contest elections from Model Town, his wife Preeti Goel is working on the ground with local corporators and fielding for him. Vijendra Gupta might also contest from Wazirpur as the constituency does not have strong contenders. In a meeting held with media on Saturday, Goel said that the party might announce the name of the candidates in a few days after a meeting is held with the election committee next week. Meanwhile, coming down heavily upon the Congress government, the Delhi BJP on Sunday announced that it would set up accountability commission after coming to power in Delhi to probe various alleged scams in the 15 years of Congress’ “misrule.”
